Cann c. 1707 - 1708

This silver cann, dating back to c. 1707–1708, is attributed to the English silversmith John Fletcher. Standing at a modest 4 3/8 x 4 1/2 x 3 1/2 inches, the piece features a simple, elegant form with a rounded body, a flared lip, and a gracefully curved handle. The cann showcases the refined craftsmanship of the early 18th century, characteristic of the silversmithing tradition of the time. The piece is part of the collection of the Minneapolis Institute of Art.
