Curator: Larry Stark's print, "Queen Elizabeth Ate Lunch Here," presents a vibrant cascade of water amidst a dense forest scene. It’s a curious title for such a serene image. Editor: Yes, the title sets up an expectation, but I’m immediately drawn to the rush of the water. It’s almost aggressively bright, and the eye follows it up into that verdant depth. Curator: The contrast is striking. Water often symbolizes purification or the unconscious. Perhaps the artist is hinting at a transformative experience linked to this place. Editor: Maybe. Or maybe the queen just had a really good sandwich there and that's all there is to it. I like the little joke. The way the forest is rendered is also quite special. Curator: I agree. It's a lovely piece—a reminder that even the most ordinary places can hold extraordinary significance. Editor: Definitely. And it makes me want to find my own queen-approved picnic spot.
