Leo Putz painted ‘Hinter Den Kulissen’ with a touch that feels both intimate and a bit cheeky. The palette is soft, with lots of creamy whites and those surprising lilac tights, but he's not afraid to let the brushstrokes show. You can see the thinking behind each mark; it's about capturing a mood more than a perfect image. Looking closely, you see how the textures play off each other. The soft, almost fluffy skirts contrast with the solid, grounded feel of the furniture. In the lower right corner, there's this swirl of whites and greys suggesting discarded costumes, a real physical presence. It’s a simple mark, but it tells a whole story about the lives of these performers, caught between performance and reality. It reminds me a little of Degas, but with a warmer, slightly more humorous twist. I like the idea of art being this ongoing conversation, artists responding to each other across time, offering their own take on the human experience.
