Reliquary c. 1500

This reliquary, dating back to around 1500, is a prime example of late Gothic and early Renaissance craftsmanship. The ivory box is adorned with intricate silver and gold detailing, featuring stylized floral motifs and a decorative lock. The box's four feet are in the form of lion paws, showcasing the artistic skill of the anonymous maker. Reliquaries, used for storing religious relics, were highly sought-after objects during the medieval period. This particular example, with its ornate detailing and small size, may have been intended for personal devotion.
