Curatorial notes
Delizy created this small photograph of a railway with a station and water tower in Le Lioran. The sepia tones create an almost dreamlike quality, softening the industrial scene with a warmth that’s quite inviting. What strikes me is the physicality of the scene. The texture in the image feels almost palpable, like you could reach out and touch the rough stone blocks. Each building is rendered in shades of gray, with thin delicate lines emphasizing the depth and the perspective. The way the tracks bend around the water tower, feels so deliberate, as if time has slowed down. The composition invites you to get lost in the details and the subtle variations in tone and texture, a reminder that even within the most structured environments, there's always room for surprise. It’s a conversation between the built and natural environments, that reminds me of some of the works of Bernd and Hilla Becher. It's a dialogue, a push and pull, that keeps evolving, and that’s the beauty of art.
