Jean Dubuffet made this artwork called 'Secret' using lithography, and it feels like uncovering something hidden. Look at the way Dubuffet builds up this dense, all-over surface. It's not about one focal point, but more about the accumulation of marks. It’s like he’s creating a whole world out of tiny gestures. You get the sense that he just let the process take over, like automatic writing or something. The texture is so rich; it's got this gritty, almost earthy quality. I wonder what tools he used to get such a complex surface? And the color—this muted range of grays and creams—creates this atmosphere of something old, maybe forgotten. There’s one little scratch in the bottom corner, and it kinda reveals the whole thing, as though it was always waiting there. Dubuffet always had a thing for "low art" and the art of so-called outsiders. He’s on a mission to expand our definition of what art can be.
