This photograph, by Ursula Schulz-Dornburg, presents a world of soft greys. I love how the image emerges, like a half-remembered dream, all about process. The scene shows dwellings crafted from reeds or straw, their forms mirrored in the still water. The textures are so physical – you can almost feel the rough surfaces of the thatching. Look closely at the reflections. Aren’t they amazing? The way they blur the line between solid and liquid, reality and illusion, it's like the whole world is breathing. It feels less about capturing a specific place and more about evoking a feeling. It reminds me of some of the early modernist photographers, like Eugène Atget, who found beauty in the everyday. Schulz-Dornburg shares that sensibility, finding poetry in the mundane and reminding us that art is not just about what you see, but how you see it.
