Yayoi Kusama painted this piece, one of her Infinity Net paintings, with a seemingly endless field of red dots. Imagine Kusama standing before the canvas, obsessively and meticulously building this field of marks, one after another. Can you feel how she painstakingly built the painting’s surface? It's a kind of madness, but also such a committed act. You can feel the artist's hand. It reminds me a bit of Agnes Martin's grids, but where Martin is calm, Kusama is, like, exploding. All these dots! They're like cells, or maybe memories, repeating and repeating. It makes you think about how we’re all just part of some bigger pattern. It's a conversation, a dialogue that transcends time, connecting artists across generations, inspiring us to see the world differently.
