Editor: So, this is "Piazza With Carriages and Pedestrians, Bounded by a Walled Garden and Churches" by Melchior Küsel. It's an etching, and I find the scene quite serene, almost like a stage set. What’s your take? Curator: You know, it does feel like a stage! The way Küsel uses line, it's almost like he's conducting the viewer's eye through the piazza. I wonder what stories those tiny figures could tell? Do you feel drawn into their world, or kept at a distance by the architecture? Editor: I think the architecture keeps me at a distance, although I'd love to be in one of those carriages! I never thought of the tiny figures, but they could probably say a lot! Thanks for your insights.
