Mark Kostabi’s "Heart Share" presents us with silhouetted figures in a tight embrace, rendered in bold, contrasting colors. There's a real graphic punch to the way Kostabi applies the colors, creating an immediacy. Looking at the texture, it's smooth, but not slick. The slight graininess gives the surface a tactile quality, as if it wants to be touched, pulling us into the image. The embrace is central and intimate. The red halo, like a corona, around the figures heads creates an emotional resonance that amplifies the connection. The deep blacks help the blues and reds appear even more vivid. This work makes me think of Kenny Scharf, or even Warhol, for its pop sensibility and bold use of color. But Kostabi brings a different, almost theatrical sensibility to the same terrain. It’s a reminder that art is an ongoing conversation, remixing ideas and emotions across different voices and visions.
