Editor: Here we have an untitled acrylic painting by Hannibal Alkhas. It's quite the scene, a swirl of figures that initially feels unsettling, like a gathering of souls perhaps? The colors are bold and expressive. What strikes you most when you look at it? Curator: Unsettling is a brilliant start! It reminds me of those dreams where faces melt into each other, emotions become landscapes. Alkhas’ brushwork, the way he's layered those acrylics, is almost like witnessing a psychic archaeology. You peel back a layer, and another story, another feeling, comes flooding forth. What about the central figure? What does she evoke for you? Editor: She seems…contemplative, a little detached from the chaos surrounding her. Almost like she’s observing a play, and perhaps a knowing actor in it. Do you think the figures represent specific individuals or more universal archetypes? Curator: That knowing actor bit really sparks something! Alkhas often blends autobiography with myth, personal experience with collective memory. So, these faces could be family, enemies, historical figures, even aspects of his own fractured self wrestling it out. They are archetypes, rendered intimate, stained with his personal ink, and daring us to feel every drop. The yellow feels particularly poignant, right? A hopeful scream that transcends through ages of violence. What do you feel looking at it now? Editor: I didn't appreciate the scream within the hope before, but you're so right. I feel like I've peeked behind a curtain of Alkhas' subconscious. It's quite the show. Curator: And the best art, my friend, always invites you to join the cast. A portal for dialogues across time and feelings.
