"Hercules Vanquishing Cacus" is a Baroque-style sculpture created by Dutch artist Jan Pieter van (I) Baurscheit between 1722 and 1728. The sculpture, crafted from sandstone, depicts the Greek hero Hercules in the midst of subduing the monstrous Cacus, a fire-breathing giant who was known for his thievery. The scene is full of dramatic tension, showcasing the raw power of Hercules as he grapples with Cacus, whose body twists in agony and defeat. This sculpture is a powerful testament to the classical mythology that inspired Baurscheit's work.

Hercules was robbed by Cacus, whom he killed after a fierce fight. With his right hand Hercules powerfully pulls Cacus’ head back, forcing his own body to tilt in the opposite direction. At the end of the 17th century, the clash between the two brawny men symbolized Stadholder William III’s struggle against the king of France.
