Wassily Kandinsky made this "Sketch for a Poster for a French Brewery" using tempera, watercolor, and gold paint. Imagine him at the easel, playfully mixing pigments, finding just the right hue for that vivid blue sky. The gold shimmers, doesn’t it? It reminds me of Gustav Klimt. I bet Kandinsky admired Klimt's daring use of metallic paint. The poster is populated by rather eccentric figures. I'm particularly drawn to the woman in the white dress. She seems to float above the scene, offering us a drink, and a good time. What I love about painting is how it allows for different ways of seeing. Like a conversation between artists, each stroke builds upon what came before. Kandinsky was a pioneer, always pushing boundaries. Painting lets you embrace the unknown, invite interpretation, and spark dialogue.
