Mustard pot 1768 - 1769

This silver mustard pot was crafted by Alexis Micalef, a French silversmith, in the eighteenth century. Its surface is adorned with stylized gadroons: convex, elongated curves, reminiscent of ancient fluting. These gadroons are not merely decorative.
