"Rest on the Flight into Egypt" (1612-1615) is a black and white engraving by Boëtius Adamsz. Bolswert, depicting the biblical story of the Holy Family's journey to Egypt. The work is a print from the 17th century, showing the Holy Family resting beneath a large tree. The central figure is the Virgin Mary, cradling the baby Jesus in her arms. Joseph, holding a staff, is positioned behind Mary, and an angel appears above them all. The engraving is a striking example of the artist's skill in capturing the detail and drama of the story, and the overall visual composition of the piece. The work is currently housed in the Rijksmuseum.
