Editor: Here we have Ian Hamilton Finlay's "A Proposal for a Private Garden in Germany." It feels very architectural, almost like a blueprint. What jumps out at you when you see it? Curator: It whispers of both classical structure and natural freedom, doesn't it? I see Finlay playing with the tension between control and wildness, like poetry etched in stone. Do you notice how the formal layout suggests a hidden narrative? Editor: A hidden narrative? I hadn't thought of that. It does invite you to imagine walking through it, almost like reading a story. Curator: Exactly! It's as much about the idea of a garden as it is about the garden itself. The mind becomes the truest garden. Editor: I love that—the mind as a garden! I'll never look at landscape art the same way. Curator: Nor will I. Every encounter is a new bloom.
