Editor: This is "Baroque Interlude" by Ceri Richards. There's something so striking about the bold reds and blues, almost like a stage set. What's your take? Curator: It feels to me like a memory, perhaps of a performance, slightly abstracted and intensified through color. The figures almost melt into the scene, don’t they? What do you make of their facelessness? Editor: I hadn't thought of them as faceless, but now that you mention it...almost like anonymous players in a drama. Curator: Exactly. It's as if Richards is inviting us to project our own narratives onto the scene, making it intensely personal. It reminds me of those dreams where the details are hazy. Editor: I can see that. It's less a portrait, more a feeling captured in color and form. Thanks for shedding light! Curator: My pleasure. It's a print that rewards repeated viewings.
