Giorgia Valli created this painting sometime in the recent past. I can imagine her building up the layers of paint, one on top of the other, until this image of a parrot took shape. The painting is so atmospheric, with its muted greens and blues. It’s like a dream, or a memory. I bet Valli was totally absorbed in the process, letting the painting guide her, almost like she was conjuring the scene from her imagination. The way the parrot sits so still on the branch, there is a sense of stillness and contemplation. Maybe Valli was thinking about nature, or maybe she was just enjoying the act of painting itself. Painting is an ongoing dialogue, you know? We are all building on what came before, riffing on each other's ideas, pushing the boundaries of what paint can do. Painting is a way of thinking, of feeling, of being in the world. It’s about embracing the unknown and finding meaning in the ambiguity.
