This is Oleksandr Aksinin’s ‘Exlibris of I.Khodorovych,’ made in 1978, and the details in this piece, they’re just phenomenal. Look at the lines, the way they build up to create these textures and shapes. It really gives you a sense of Aksinin’s process, how he carefully, meticulously built this world. And what a world it is! There are rows of watchful owls with these steely, knowing eyes, standing sentinel like librarians. They watch over a landscape that feels both like a fortress and a library. Then there’s that dome above, and how the hatching suggests light. You know, it reminds me a little of Piranesi's architectural prints, the way he creates these complex, almost fantastical spaces. It’s like Aksinin is inviting us into his own personal library, a space of knowledge and contemplation. It’s beautiful, mysterious, and a little bit unsettling. Art doesn't always have to be easy, right? It’s about opening doors, asking questions, and letting your imagination run wild.
