Arno König made this painting, called Seescape, with oil on cardboard. The way the colors are put down, kind of scumbled and rubbed, it feels like the painting was a process, more about feeling the place than describing it exactly. And look at the way the trees are painted - not like individual leaves, but more like a general impression of greenness. The paint is not too thick, and you can see how it's been layered, almost like watercolor, but with the richness of oil. The way the path snakes into the distance, with those pale strokes suggesting figures or markers, makes you feel like you could step right into the painting. It’s like König is saying, "Come on, let’s wander." This reminds me a bit of Corot, with that same loose, dreamy atmosphere, but König brings his own touch of something a little wilder, a little less polished. It shows how art is a conversation, artists building on each other, but always finding their own voice.
