This image, a punchy little fight scene by The Glen Twins, is all about action. It's probably a woodcut or linocut, and it revels in the physicality of carving. You can feel the artists pushing into the material, gouging out the white spaces to leave these bold, graphic figures. There's a rawness to the whole thing, the surface texture isn't smooth and uniform but it adds to the energy, like the image itself is in motion. The limited palette, maybe just a few blocks of color, throws the forms into sharp relief. The way the darks and lights crash against each other it amplifies the sense of conflict and chaos, like a punch in the face. You know, it reminds me a little of some of those early German Expressionist woodcuts, like Kirchner or Heckel. They were interested in this kind of raw, visceral expression too, but maybe The Glen Twins have taken it a step further. This image isn’t trying to be refined or beautiful; it’s just trying to capture a moment. And it does, with a real punch.
