Frank McEntee made this "Coffee Pot" with watercolor, and it's all about process, right? You can see how the colors are layered to build up a kind of metallic sheen. The beauty here is in the everyday. It's not trying to be fancy, just honest. Look at the way he's rendered the light, it's soft but defined, giving the pot a real sense of weight. There's a lovely, almost imperceptible, scumble of drybrush texture in the shadows. I like how McEntee has taken something so functional, so part of our daily grind, and turned it into a quiet, contemplative moment. It reminds me a little of some of Giorgio Morandi’s still lifes. He was all about repetition and seeing the extraordinary in the ordinary. Art's just an ongoing conversation, you know? Each artist picks up the thread and adds their own little twist.
