Gazmend Freitag made this drawing of Pjetër Bogdani on paper with graphite and crayon. Look at how the colors swim into each other, like a memory. It's all about the lines, how they build up the form, right? The paper seems to glow. Imagine Freitag, the artist, standing there, squinting, maybe mumbling to himself, trying to get the angle of the head just right. That upward tilt, what does it mean? Is it about hope, defiance, or just plain curiosity? And those crayon marks around the face – it's like he's trying to trap the essence of the guy, Bogdani, in a web of color. It reminds me of Twombly's drawings, loose and free. Like the artist is in a hurry to capture something fleeting. It's a reminder that painting is a conversation, an ongoing dialogue across time. We're all just riffing off each other, trying to make sense of the world, one brushstroke, one crayon line at a time.
