Assonometria 

Rodolfo Arico created this geometric work, Assonometria. Arico came of age as an artist during a time of political and cultural upheaval in Italy. His art resists easy classification, reflecting a period of shifting identities and ideologies. Arico was associated with the Italian art movement known as Pittura Analitica, which emerged in the 1970s. The artists associated with this movement sought to deconstruct painting by focusing on its fundamental elements, such as color, surface, and form. In Assonometria, he distills his artistic vocabulary to color and form, employing the bare minimum to produce the strongest response. In the piece, a solid green diagonal element traverses the canvas in an almost defiant assertion of volume. The assertive color might be perceived as challenging cultural norms of the time.
