This small photograph titled 'Grote villa in Simpangampat' captures a large villa. I’m immediately thinking about what it must have been like to make this image. The photographer’s eye, their focus on the building’s structure, feels so deliberate. Was this a commissioned piece or an act of personal exploration? I wonder! The way the light hits the building, it almost makes the villa look like it’s breathing. You can almost feel the warm air and hear the sound of nature all around. It’s as though the photographer is asking us to consider our place in the world. How this place might relate to other places and other times. Looking at this image, I am reminded of the idea of constant change and exchange of ideas across time. It's as if the photographer is in conversation with architects and other photographers.
