Alfred Freddy Krupa made this photograph, "Below The Bridge of Freedom," with a camera, sometime around now. It's interesting how Krupa finds geometry in unusual places; the circles of the pipes running across the top contrast with the angular graffiti at the bottom, all reflected in the water. I can imagine Krupa down there, peering up, thinking about how to compose the shot. The pipes are almost like a drawing, but the graffiti seems more impulsive, like it happened in a hurry. The opening in the middle is the darkest part of the whole image. What's in there? It feels very intentional, like the artist is inviting us to wonder. It reminds me of other artists who find beauty in everyday scenes. It’s all about how we look at the world, isn't it? Artists keep showing us new ways to see, one image at a time. It makes you think about what freedom really means.
