Here we see Oleg Holosiy’s oil on canvas, *Still Life*. Holosiy was a key figure in Ukrainian contemporary art, emerging during a time of profound political and social transition in the late Soviet era. Holosiy’s still life feels less about representation and more about the emotional landscape of a society in flux. The decaying light and decomposing forms hint at a world on the brink. It is as if the objects themselves are dissolving, their solidity undermined by an uncertain future. Holosiy worked with themes of identity, history, and cultural memory. As a young Ukrainian artist he confronted questions of national and personal identity in a period marked by political upheaval and cultural re-evaluation. Holosiy tragically passed away in 1993 at the young age of 28, leaving behind a body of work that encapsulates a pivotal moment in Ukrainian history. His art invites us to reflect on the fragility of existence.
