Kazimir Malevich made Province with oil on canvas. This painting feels like a memory, a fleeting scene captured with bold strokes and a warm, earthy palette. It’s as if Malevich was trying to distill the essence of a place, not just represent it. I can imagine him standing there, squinting in the sun, quickly laying down colors to capture the light. Look at that yellow sky. It's not realistic, but it conveys the heat and energy of the moment. The figures are abstracted, almost geometric, yet they feel so human. Maybe Malevich was thinking about the simple rhythms of rural life, the way people move through space, and the shapes they make against the landscape. He’s pushing and pulling at representation, searching for a new language of form. It reminds me of some of my own struggles in the studio, trying to find the balance between abstraction and figuration. It’s all one conversation, isn't it?
