Dragan Ilić Di Vogo made this mind-bending painting, Geometrija, with oil in 1991. Right away, I’m drawn into the mystery, the way the painting pulls together a bunch of different ideas. The pyramid in the background, contrasted with the geometric shapes surrounding the central figure, it’s like the artist is inviting us to solve a visual puzzle. I love how the texture gives the piece a tactile quality. The way the paint is applied to the figure, it’s almost like it's emerging from the canvas. Then there’s this flower right on top of the head, it makes me think about growth, and how even the most solid forms can give way to something new and vibrant. It’s a bit like looking at a de Chirico, where the mundane meets the surreal. And that signature in the corner? It’s a reminder that someone, somewhere, put their heart into making this thing. Art, after all, is just a conversation across time, full of questions and no easy answers.
