This little painting by Marcelle Cahn from '75 has got it going on, you know? I can imagine Cahn shuffling around in her studio, moving shapes and colours this way and that, trying to find the right rhythm. The linear wooden ground with the cool gray next to the line of red dots - like dominoes toppling over - is strangely exciting! The dots have such a cool vibe, like a little dance or some kind of code waiting to be cracked. Cahn’s work always has this sense of play, not unlike Picabia's later work. It’s like she’s inviting us into her own game of seeing, thinking, and feeling. It all comes together to open up a whole space of possibilities, where the painting becomes an active, living thing.
