This patterned, cut velvet artwork features stylized flower bouquets in a light greenish-blue. I love how the flowers almost emerge from the background, as if growing right before our eyes. It’s easy to imagine Firma H.P. Mutters, the creators, carefully choosing each color and texture, considering how the light would hit the fabric, the shadows it would cast. What were they thinking when they settled on that particular shade of greenish-blue? Did they see it in a dream, or in a field of wildflowers? I am drawn to the way the cut velvet creates a tactile surface that invites touch. The pattern is repeated over and over, but each time with slight variations, like a conversation that keeps circling back to the same themes but always with a new twist. This piece reminds me that all artists are connected, that we're all drawing inspiration from the world around us, and from each other, weaving together the threads of our experiences and ideas into something new and beautiful.
