"Drie figuren lopen over straat, één man leest een brief" (1833-1880), by Dutch artist Auguste Numans, depicts three figures walking down a street in a town. The central figure is a man in a hat, reading a letter. To the left, a man with a sword walks away, and to the right a woman in a shawl walks in the opposite direction.
