Morris Louis made "Alpha Tau" using acrylic on canvas, and what really grabs me is how he let the paint do its thing, flowing down the canvas like a colorful waterfall. It's all about the process, you know? Look at how the colors blend and bleed into each other, creating these soft, hazy edges. The paint is super thin, almost like watercolor, which lets the canvas breathe and gives the whole thing a luminous quality. There's something so freeing about the way Louis embraced the fluidity of the medium, letting gravity and chance play a role in the final composition. This reminds me a little of Helen Frankenthaler's soak-stain paintings, where she poured diluted paint onto raw canvas. Both artists were pushing the boundaries of what painting could be, exploring the expressive potential of pure color and gesture, and inviting us to get lost in the beauty of the moment. It is so good!
