This small, 16th century bronze medal, known as a "rekenpenning" or counting token, was produced by an anonymous artist in Utrecht, the Netherlands. The obverse features a stylized rooster, a symbol of vigilance and courage, and the inscription "FORZA IN VICTO" (strength in victory), referencing the Dutch struggle for independence from Spain during the Eighty Years' War. The reverse features a coat of arms. This small object, measuring just 3.1 centimeters in diameter, encapsulates a pivotal moment in Dutch history.
