Editor: Here we have "It Will Be the Same" by Francisco José de Goya y Lucientes, currently residing at the Harvard Art Museums. It looks like a somber scene, perhaps of desperation and struggle. What do you see in this piece? Curator: Ah, Goya. This feels like peering into the shadowy corners of the human soul, doesn't it? The title whispers of relentless repetition, the figures locked in a grim ballet of violence or survival. Editor: So, the figures, they're not necessarily fighting each other? Curator: It’s a dance of brutality, perhaps fueled by forces beyond their control. Goya never shied away from depicting the darkest aspects of society. I see empathy, even as he shows us the awful. It makes you wonder, what "same" will be repeated? Editor: I hadn’t considered the cyclical nature of the title. A bit bleak, but thought-provoking. Curator: Exactly! That's the Goya magic. He invites us to wrestle with uncomfortable truths, doesn't he?
