Ciurlionis painted "My road (III)" with oil, exploring a world of muted colors and towering forms. There's a kind of dreamy vagueness to the way the buildings emerge from the gloom. It's not really about architectural precision but more about feelings, wouldn't you say? The surfaces are brushed with thin layers of paint, almost like watercolor. It gives the whole thing a translucent feel, a little like looking through fog. Look at the way he’s built up the darker areas at the bottom - it’s like the land itself is made of shadow and mystery, very atmospheric. Ciurlionis, like Mondrian, was a mystic, and I'm sure there's a deep symbolic layer that I don't understand. But what I like is how he isn't afraid to let the paint breathe, to let the image remain unresolved. It's less about knowing and more about seeing, more about the questions, and less about answers.
