This silver medal of 6.9cm diameter and 883 gr weight, commemorates the six-hundred-year celebration of Amsterdam's toll-free status, granted by Floris V. It was created by Moses de Vries. Observe the medal's careful arrangement of allegorical figures and architectural elements, divided between the two sides of the coin. The primary side features a central female figure receiving a symbolic object, possibly representing freedom, from cherubic figures above. This is contrasted with the built environment, suggesting commerce and urban life to the sides. The composition is meticulously balanced, using the figure's posture and the building’s lines to create a harmonious visual experience. The reverse side displays a dense inscription. While primarily informative, the choice of typography and its arrangement into a circular format are stylistic decisions which reflect the values of clarity and order.
