"Orans of Yaroslavl" is a 13th-century Orthodox icon depicting the Virgin Mary, also known as the "Our Lady of the Sign," in the traditional "Orante" pose, signifying prayer. The central figure of the Virgin Mary is framed by a mandorla (almond-shaped halo) and surrounded by two angels, creating a powerful composition. The icon's use of gold, black, and red pigments, as well as the stylized depiction of the figures, are characteristic of the Byzantine style prevalent in 13th-century Russia. This iconic piece is currently housed in the Tretyakov Gallery in Moscow, Russia.
