Georgi Mashev’s painting *Lamia* is all about mood. It's full of energy and movement, and everything kind of dissolves into everything else. Look at how the brushstrokes create a sense of constant motion. The paint seems thin, almost like a watercolor, allowing the colors to blend and create a misty, ethereal atmosphere. In the top left, the winged monster looms in the background, rendered with soft edges that make it feel both present and spectral. Mashev's work reminds me of earlier symbolist painters who were also interested in exploring the darker sides of our imaginations. Like them, he embraces ambiguity and leaves space for our own interpretations. There’s a conversation happening across time, an ongoing exchange of ideas that makes art so endlessly fascinating.
