Sandor Bortnyik made this abstract painting, Picture Architecture "31," layering shapes and colors like he's building with paint. The surfaces are interesting because they're not flat, they have this grainy texture, almost like sandpaper. You can see the physicality of the medium, each color seems to have its own distinct weight and presence. Take a look at the large red shape at the top. It feels both solid and permeable, as if it might dissolve into the background at any moment. I find myself thinking of Paul Klee's playful approach to form and color, in the way Bortnyik uses simple shapes to create a complex visual language. It's like a conversation between geometry and feeling, where the meaning isn't fixed but always in motion.
