Robert Frank's photogram, *Trip with father--Milan no number*, captures a journey through Milan in twelve frames. The black and white tones give the images a quality that feels both raw and deeply personal. Frank's process feels less about careful composition, and more about a spontaneous recording of a shared experience. I'm drawn to the frame where his father is caught looking into the lens, maybe he's looking right at Robert; his face worn but open, framed by the city behind him. It speaks to the intimacy and the distance that can exist in family. The juxtaposition of architectural grandeur and intimate moments creates a lovely tension. Frank's work, like that of his contemporary, Helen Levitt, reminds us that art is often about finding the extraordinary in the everyday, about freezing those fleeting moments that make up a life. It's about seeing and feeling, not just documenting.
