This is Katarzyna Kobro's "Abstract Sculpture II". It's hard to say when it was made or exactly what it's made from, but it looks like it was made with industrial materials like metal, glass, and wood. I feel for Kobro making something like this. I mean what's it like to be a sculptor who thinks about space and form in such a radically different way? It’s like she’s trying to invent a new language with geometry. The pink loop seems to float effortlessly, framing a yellow sphere like a planet in orbit, while the rectangular forms add weight and tension. There’s a sense of balance, sure, but also a kind of precariousness, as if it could all fall apart. I think of other artists who've explored similar ideas. Maybe there's some kind of dialogue happening across time, artists riffing on each other’s ideas, pushing the boundaries of what art can be. For Kobro, abstraction wasn't just about making pretty shapes. It was about creating a new way of seeing and experiencing the world.
