This is Katarzyna Kobro’s ‘Abstract Sculpture II’ - a collection of steel, glass, and wood. Its structure plays with line, color and weight, and asks us to reconsider our relationship with the space around us. The sculpture has a kind of lyrical quality, as if you could hear a melody just looking at it. The translucent and reflective materials catch and throw light, creating a sense of movement and change, a dance in time. The lines of wire that descend through the sculpture’s center are like musical notes on a staff, or threads holding the balance of the whole. Kobro really knew her Constructivism, and this piece reminds me of the work of Tatlin. You know, art is not just about seeing, but also about thinking and feeling, and Kobro’s sculpture invites us to do just that. It's about finding beauty and meaning in pure form and space.
