Valerii Lamakh’s ‘The Fourth "Book of Schemes"’ is constructed from colorful lines on paper. Can you imagine him drawing, ruling each straight line one after the other? I bet he was interested in geometry, maybe even obsessed! There’s something meditative about the repetition of shapes, the radiating patterns that give you a sense of infinite space, even on this small piece of paper. It feels like he found a way to capture a whole universe with just a few colorful lines. Look at the way the triangles within triangles start big and then get smaller. It’s like one of those Russian dolls, or a visual echo bouncing off a far mountain. The bright blues, greens, pinks, and golds must have been carefully chosen, each one adding to the overall sense of depth. This makes me think of Hilma af Klint. She was also interested in depicting non-visible, spiritual dimensions. Maybe Lamakh also felt like he was channeling something larger than himself. It’s like he was tapping into the collective consciousness of artists who try to visualize the invisible.
