Editor: This untitled work on paper by León Ferrari is intense! It’s like a medieval hellscape, teeming with grotesque figures engulfed in flames. What’s your take on this fiery scene? Curator: Well, it's Ferrari wrestling with power, isn’t it? He fearlessly used religious iconography, like the torments of hell, to critique societal structures and challenge the status quo. The grotesque imagery becomes a powerful language, screaming against oppression. What strikes you most about that language? Editor: I guess the way he reclaims these images to make such a strong statement. I'll never look at religious art the same way. Curator: Exactly! He makes us question everything. It’s uncomfortable, but that’s where the real conversations begin.
