Willem Witsen made this architectural study with pencil on paper, and looking at the lines, I can almost feel the graphite scratching the surface. It's super minimal, right? Just a few lines suggesting form. I wonder what Witsen was thinking, what he was trying to capture. Was he interested in the overall structure, or just specific details? Maybe he was just playing with the possibilities of line, seeing how little he could do to suggest so much. It reminds me that sometimes the most powerful statements are the quietest ones, the ones that invite you to lean in and really look. It’s like a whisper of a building. But that's the thing about art, isn't it? It's a conversation, an invitation to see the world in new ways. Witsen here, I feel you.
