"Rev. James Scott" is a calotype portrait by the Scottish photographic partnership Hill & Adamson, taken between 1843 and 1847. The photograph, now in the collection of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, depicts the Reverend Scott in a seated pose, holding a book in his hands, with his gaze directed downwards. This work is a prime example of the early photographic portraiture movement, showcasing the sharp detail and tonal range achievable through the calotype process.
