Curator: Here we have an etching from the Tate collection by Alexander Cozens, who was born in 1717 and died in 1786. Editor: It feels like a dream. The monochromatic palette gives it a kind of ghostly, ethereal quality. Very atmospheric. Curator: Cozens' landscapes often use these simplified forms. The trees, for instance, become almost emblematic. What do you make of that? Editor: It feels intentional, like he's trying to tap into something deeper than just the surface of the landscape. More about the feeling than the fact. Curator: The etching process allows for such fine detail and subtle gradations of tone, a perfect match for his vision. Editor: It’s true. It feels like I’m standing in a memory. It lingers. Curator: Definitely evocative. Editor: Right, and I can feel it in my bones.
