"Mise-en-carte (Point-paper)" is a design for woven silk by the Parisian firm Germain Frères, dated between 1760 and 1790. The design features a repeating pattern of stylized floral motifs in shades of pink, yellow, and green, set against a pale blue ground. The design was likely intended for use in clothing or upholstery, reflecting the elaborate and decorative aesthetic of the French Rococo period. The gridded pattern and inscription suggest this was a design sample or point paper, intended to guide weavers in creating the final fabric. It's currently in the collection of the Art Institute of Chicago.
