Curatorial notes
Editor: So, this is an untitled photograph by Hamblin Studio, showing Lee's Esso Grill. It feels a bit like stepping into a time capsule, a strangely peaceful one at that. What strikes you about it? Curator: It's funny, isn't it? The mundane elevated. This image, for me, whispers of simpler times, those small-town American dreams fueled by cheap gas and diner coffee. The negative print intensifies the stillness, but I see the promise of the open road, don't you think? It practically begs us to invent a story for it. Editor: The stillness definitely gets to me. Thanks!
