Editor: This is a lovely, small watercolor by Hercules Brabazon Brabazon, called "Murcia". It feels so immediate, like a fleeting impression. What strikes you about this piece? Curator: It’s the light, isn't it? The way he captures the Spanish sun, almost blindingly bright on those white buildings. I wonder, did he choose watercolor to try and keep up with the pace of the sunlight as it moved across the buildings? Editor: That’s a beautiful thought! It does feel like he was trying to catch something ephemeral. Curator: It makes me think about memory, how we hold onto fleeting moments. A little like catching sunlight in your hands, eh? Editor: That’s so true! I'll definitely see this in a new way now.
